Testimonials

Here are some testimonials from present and past clients:

I have always been an active person – running and swimming long distances were my favourite exercises when I was younger. As I got older, I developed arthritis in my knees and ankles, making both running and swimming a challenge. It was hard to find an activity that didn’t hurt. So the pounds crept on…

Kari Galasso suggested I might like Urban Poling. She taught me the proper technique and from the first day, I loved it! It was easy to learn, and I have never gotten bored with it. I walk all over town, discovering my city. I look forward to heading out every day at lunch. I have dropped quite a few pounds, too. Friends and colleagues have all noticed my new toned up look. I am a little shocked to find that I actually have triceps!

The best thing about Urban Poling is that it doesn’t feel as if you are really working the way that running does, yet you really are working. At the end of my daily walk, I feel energized (not exhausted, the way I used to feel from running).

Liz and I met at a poling class in October 2010. When the course finished we decided to continue poling together and have been doing so ever since. We go poling for about 1 hour each time and go at least once a week in the evenings. During the summer, we enjoy Lemoine point, Lake Ontario Park or sometimes we try somewhere new like the K&P trail. During the winter we take turns driving to each others houses and find new routes to walk. We walk regardless of the weather and we have sometimes arrived back home looking like snowmen or drowned rats, but it’s always fun.
We have recently started the Urban Poling Super Circuit Classes and we are trying to increase our poling to twice a week to push ourselves a little harder. We have found it very easy to continue with our poling as we encourage each other to go, even when one of us doesn’t want to, and we always feel better for it.

I love urban poling! It’s a great way to exercise and it’s a much better workout than just walking. I have bad knees and bad hips but I can do urban poling with no problem. It’s also great for my balance. And Kari is so enthusiastic and encouraging!

Anyone can do this! Throw away your canes and take up poles!

Urban poling is good for any age and any activity level. It’s a great workout!

Urban Poling with strength/conditioning (circuit) training is a great way to exercise at your own pace. It adjusts for any fitness level. A bonus is being outdoors and meeting new people.

Urban poling? Walking with poles? Could there be any easier way to get in shape and enjoy doing it? In my estimation, urban poling is one of the closest activities to a full-body workout.  It exercises the upper torso, including the arms and legs, and the heart and lungs too.  I soon realized its benefits as my mobility and stability improved, as did my overall strength and coordination.  In short, urban poling has improved on my overall health and well-being. What better way is there to achieve such results while having an enjoyable time with friends and good company!
