6 WEEK INTRODUCTION TO NORDIC WALKING

The latest research is showing that the benefits of Nordic walking are OUTSTANDING!!  Nordic walking improves functional capacity more than High Intensity Interval Training!    Learn how it’s done in this 6 week  immersion into Nordic Walking!  You’ll learn about:

  • how to size your poles
  • why Urban Poles provide the greatest benefit
  • proper, optimal technique with extensive individual coaching and feedback
  • great trails around Kingston
  • the benefits of getting outdoors and being active
  • what a great social activity Nordic Walking can be!
  • upcoming classes and  excursions

Wednesday April 12th to May 17th, 2023

10am – 11am

Frist Class:  Meet at the Memorial Centre on York St. in Kingston

Cost:  $72

Wednesday Winter Walking:  join me for some guided walks this winter and help a good cause; all proceeds will be donated to the Boys & Girls Club of Kingston!  There are 2 options on Wednesdays.

 

Outdoor K&P Trail Unity Rd:

Dates:  stay tuned for dates and times

Time:  11am – 12noon

Where:  meet at the parking lot on Unity Rd. on the K & P Trail

What:  we’ll do a quick warm up and will head north for 2.5 – 3km (depending on conditions) and will then turn around and head back to the parking lot.  This section of the K & P is often ploughed so footing is reliable most of the time.  Ice cleats may be recommended!

Cost:  $10/person/class.  Pay as you go!

Build a Class:  If you and 3 of your friends would like a class to suit your needs, priorities and your schedule, let’s chat!  We can focus on brisk walking, Urban Poling technique, strength building, balance or exploring nature – whatever you prefer!  I’d be happy to hear from you and create a class for you and your friends!

Clinics take place rain or shine at the Memorial Centre (we can go indoors if the weather is really awful)  The cost for a clinic is $20.  Please pay by cash or cheque at the clinic or feel free to send an e transfer.  Please contact Kari to register.

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS BELOW:

Classes are Coming Back!!!

Stride and Strong: Enjoy the beauty of Lemoine Pt. each week while taking a brisk Nordic Walk that will incorporate some intervals and strength exercises.  We’ll aim to cover 4km in the hour with 3 stops for resistance exercises.  A great overall workout!

Winter Nordic Walking: This class is for the hearty winter walker.  We’ll aim to cover 5km each week and this might require 60 – 70minutes depending on footing and weather.  We’ll walk at a variety of locations around Kingston with a confirmation email each Wednesday evening before the class the following morning.   It is important that you are comfortable completing the distance in the allotted time.  If you haven’t walked with Urban Poles before, contact Kari to arrange a brief lesson before your first class.
