CLASS DESCRIPTIONS BELOW:

Although I am presently, not teaching a variety of classes, my hope is that by leaving these description on my website, other instructors might use them to develop their classes.  And, who knows, I might teach classes in the future and I would use this format again 🙂

Gentle Urban Poling (formerly UP II): This class that will take place at Lemoine Pt and occasionally the K & P Trail.  On very wet days, we might walk at the Frontenac Mall.  If you are tentative about walking outdoors or are not sure about your stamina, this is the class for you. The poles will provide stability and help you to stand tall. If you’ve never walked with poles before, a Quick Start Clinic is highly recommended.  Enjoy walking outdoors with renewed confidence. We’ll cover 1.5 – 2km in 45min.

Moderate Urban Poling  : We’ll cover 3.5 – 4km in the hour at a variety of trails around Kingston.  Experience using Urban Poles is recommended as is your ability to complete the distance.

Vigorous Urban Poling :  We’ll cover 5 – 5.5km in the hour at a variety of locations around Kingston including Lemoine Pt., K & P Trail, Cataraqui Cemetery and Little Cat Conservation Area.  It is important that you are comfortable completing the distance.  If you haven’t walked with Urban Poles before, either a Quick Start Clinic or private lesson is highly recommended.

Move More: Enjoy the beauty of Lemoine Pt. each week while taking a brisk Nordic Walk that will incorporate some intervals and strength exercises.  We’ll aim to cover 4km in the hour with 3 stops for resistance exercises.  A great overall workout!

Urban Poling After Work:  .  A great mid-week workout!  We’ll enjoy a vigorous 5 – 5.5km walk from either the Springer Market Square , Lake Ontario Park or the Douglas Fluhrer Park.

Winter Urban Poling: This class is for the hearty winter walker.  We’ll aim to cover 5km each week and this might require 60 – 70minutes depending on footing and weather.  We’ll walk at a variety of locations around Kingston with a confirmation email each Wednesday evening before the class the following morning.   It is important that you are comfortable completing the distance in the allotted time.  If you haven’t walked with Urban Poles before, contact Kari to arrange a brief lesson before your first class.  Proceeds from this class will be donated to the Boys & Girls Club of Kingston.
